About This Role
Brunel has partnered exclusively with a leading Australian defence engineering and shipbuilding organisation to secure an experienced ILS Training Specialist for a major multi-year maritime program.
This is a significant opportunity to join a high-performing team delivering one of Australia's most important sovereign capability projects.
As the ILS Training Specialist, you will design and deliver specialised technical training across the organisation's modern naval platforms. Your work will directly influence capability development, operational readiness, and technical competence across the fleet.
Key responsibilities include:
* Create and deliver training across propulsion, power generation, auxiliary systems and complex shipborne engineering equipment
* Develop and update training documentation, procedures, lesson plans, and instructional materials
* Assess third-party training content for accuracy and suitability
* Support the design and development of training media, simulations, and equipment
* Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, training, and project teams to ensure alignment with program deliverables
* Track progress and drive continuous improvement within the training function
Requirements
You will thrive in a maritime or defence environment and bring a blend of technical expertise and instructional capability.
You'll bring:
* Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116 or higher)
* At least 3 years' seagoing experience (naval or merchant)
* Technical knowledge of marine propulsion, power systems, and auxiliary equipment
* Experience delivering training across varied environments (classroom, onboard, simulation)
* Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills
* Familiarity with modern ship systems and maritime engineering standards
Highly regarded:
* ILS or instructional design background
* Defence or marine project experience
* Marine Systems Manager / Controller or AMSA equivalent certification
