Your role

We are seeking a Business Support Officer to provide essential administrative and office services support within the Aboriginal Housing Office's Services Our Way (SOW) program. SOW provides culturally appropriate service coordination and support for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and families experiencing vulnerability. The program enables clients to improve their wellbeing and capacity to navigate support services by connecting them with government and non-government programs, specialist services, and community resources.

What you'll do

As a Business Support Officer, you will:

* Provide a wide range of administrative and office services to support the efficient operation of the Services Our Way program.
* Enter and maintain accurate records, ensuring information is up to date and compliant with standards.
* Coordinate travel bookings and logistics.
* Take and distribute accurate meeting minutes, agendas, and action items to support effective communication and follow-up.
* Use relevant technology to prepare documents, reports, and presentations for managers and directors.
* Maintain and improve administrative systems and processes to better support the delivery of services.
* Assist colleagues in the administration team to ensure efficient and effective outcomes.
* Deliver excellent customer service and act as the first point of contact.

What we're looking for

We are looking for an organised and detail focused professional with strong communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. You bring experience in administration tasks such as data entry, minute-taking, and coordinating travel. Most importantly, you understand the needs of Aboriginal communities and have the cultural capability to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal people, communities, and organisations.

A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) is an essential requirement for this role. The role has been identified as requiring this check in line with the Child Protection (Working With Children) Act 2012.

As an Identified role, this position is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons. Where a position is identified, an applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification under the exception in Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.

There are two alternatives to confirming your Aboriginality, one of which must be uploaded to be considered for the role as follows. Either will be accepted:

Confirmation of Aboriginality form

or

Written confirmation from 2-3 Aboriginal organisations within the community in which you live/work, which addresses the three criteria listed below:

* is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
* identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
* is accepted as a such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
