Job Description
The project will primarily be based out of the Institute for Biomedicine and Glycomics (IBG) at the Gold Coast campus.
We are looking for a motivated PhD candidate to study how antibody glycosylation regulates the fundamental immune response. The project involves using biophysical and structural biology techniques such as mass spectrometry, surface plasmon resonance, and cryo‐electron microscopy to systematically study how IgG glycosylation modulates interactions with receptors and functional consequences. The results will improve our understanding of antibody‐mediated immune responses and may lead to better therapeutic antibodies.
This opportunity will be primarily based at Gold Coast. As Griffith is a multi‐site university you may be required to work across other locations.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a strong foundation in biochemistry, immunology or a related discipline, experience with recombinant protein expression and biophysical analyses, and the ability to think critically and communicate effectively. A passion for how post‐translational modifications such as glycosylation influence immune cell behaviour and disease outcomes is required.
* Completed or expected a bachelor's degree with honours equivalent to first‐class honours or a master's degree (AQF Level 9) with a significant research component, or be regarded by Griffith University as having an equivalent level of attainment.
* Strong academic merit and research background.
* Evidence of experience with recombinant protein expression and biophysical analyses.
* Clear communication skills and critical thinking.
