Job Summary/Objective
Plans and coordinates the design, installation, administration, and usage of cloud server, storage, virtualization, and other distributed technologies. Focuses on implementation and administration of Cloud Governance; implementation and support of both on-premise (VMWare) and cloud workloads (Azure/AWS) as provided by Cloud and Solution Architects. Works closely with DevOps and Application teams to follow best practices and ensure the reliability of OEC SaaS offerings.
Key Responsibilities & Duties (essential to the job)
Follow established procedures regarding authorized software (operating system and application) installed on servers and workstations.
Oversee applications, identify and resolve issues, and improve performance based on measurable benchmarks.
Research, install, and test software updates and patches to support applications and operating systems.
Collaborate with various IT teams to support ongoing efforts, sharing technical information.
Provide 2nd-level technical support for cloud-related issues.
Manage distributed technologies such as DNS, SMTP, DHCP, domain controllers, active directory, printing, mail, web servers, and FTP services.
Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
Identify areas where policies and procedures need updates or new development.
Monitor system logs and activity in cloud/platform environments, react to alerts, and escalate as necessary to ensure prompt resolution.
Implement security best practices and conduct regular security assessments.
Manage and optimize cloud environments (AWS, Azure) for high availability and cost-efficiency.
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continually improve cloud/platform engineering practices.
Education
An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in Business Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline is required. In lieu of a degree, equivalent work experience related to the key responsibilities will be considered.
Experience, Skills and Key Competencies
Minimum 4 years troubleshooting hardware/software for servers and workstations within a cloud environment.
At least 2 years of systems engineering experience designing and implementing VMWare and Microsoft server/workstation technologies.
3-6 months of experience writing moderately complex code and developing technical specifications for simple requests.
Additional skills include:
Knowledge of Windows Server, VMware, Active Directory, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, SQL Server, LAN/WAN, switches, and routers.
Basic understanding of platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, and automation.
Broad technical capabilities to troubleshoot hardware/software issues.
Strong interpersonal skills for professional communication across all levels.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote/hybrid environment.
Logical thinking for data collection, problem-solving, and solution recommendation.
Special Position Requirements
Availability for 24-hour on-call service for system emergencies.
