has a
Test & Validation Engineer
opportunity available at its Underground Mining Equipment Proving Grounds in the
Burnie Hinterland, Tasmania. You will be collaborating in a team that designs and tests prototypes of mobile underground mining technology, but also other global tasks. This role involves hands‑on testing of software and hardware systems on mining machines, troubleshooting, stakeholder engagement, and contributing to system development.
Position Responsibilities
Be a part of the Underground Technology Global Integration Testing Team, engaging with stakeholders on schedule, process, and quality goals.
Development of test plans for on‑machine evaluation of software releases and recent features.
Management of product integration on machine and system deployment to the proving ground and field follow‑up.
Execution of Test Cases including operation of underground mining machines, autonomy systems, and technology under test at the Proving Grounds.
Identification of software and system issues on machine including analysis of the related subsystems to assign corrective action tasks. Development of emergency containment actions where necessary.
Work with subsystem teams to develop interim and permanent containment actions for issues.
Issue documentation, tracking and management.
Installation and Evaluation of both on and off machine hardware systems.
Troubleshooting software and communication issues on machine.
Use of development tools to collect data required for offline analysis.
Interface to machine product group to plan testing schedules and communicate software release plans.
Support Commercial Teams at the Proving Grounds customer engagement events.
Support Training Teams for Dealer and Customer training programs.
Contribute to system requirements definition for system functionality and features.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science curriculum.

3+ years of relevant work experience.

Operation of Underground Mining Machines (Both Manual and Remote Controlled).
Testing, Troubleshooting and data collection of Underground Mining Technology Equipment.
You enjoy occasional travel to customer sites and internal facilities to deepen your expertise and network.
The role is based in the
Burnie Hinterland, Tasmania
and requires you to work at the
Proving Ground 5 days per week. The initial duration is
12 months
with a strong possibility of rolling contract extensions for the right person.
You must have the unrestricted right to work within Australia to be considered for this role.
