Counsellor - Family Violence
Family Violence/Sexual Assault Counsellor – Providing therapeutic case management and counselling to children, young people, adults, families and/or carers in the areas of sexual assault, family violence, abuse, child sexual assault and inappropriate and/or harmful sexual behaviours. Provision of individual counselling and support as negotiated with service users, using a flexible approach that may integrate therapeutic work, advocacy, psychoeducation, protective behaviours and safety planning.
Responsibilities
* Deliver counselling and therapeutic case management to clients affected by sexual assault, family violence, abuse, and related issues
* Provide individual counselling and support as negotiated with service users
* Utilise a flexible approach that may include therapeutic work, advocacy, psychoeducation, protective behaviours and safety planning
Essential Qualifications and Experience
* Relevant Qualification in Counselling, Social Work or Mental Health
* Stable employment history
* Working with Children Check (WWCC)
* Sensitivity to Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander cultures and families
* Experience with Indigenous families, women, youth, trauma
