Sales Manager – Solar Carports (QLD & Northern NSW)
$100,000 – $120,000 per year Plus Commission
Our company is seeking a dedicated Sales Representative to spearhead our expansion into the Solar Carport market across Queensland and Northern New South Wales.
We are looking for a specialist, not a generalist. While this product involves solar, we do not require a traditional solar electrician or PV salesman. Instead, we need an expert in structures. If you have spent 3+ years selling residential patios, carports, verandahs, pergolas, or outdoor shade structures, we want to talk to you. We will teach you the solar component; you bring the structural sales expertise.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development (Hunting Role): Proactively identify, prospect, and develop new customer relationships. Primary targets include builders, architects, small carport businesses (retail/strata), and property developers requiring covered parking.
Consultative Selling: Utilize your background in carport/patio sales to consult with clients on dimensions, approvals (Council compliance), materials, and design aesthetics of the carport structure itself.
Site Assessments: Conduct in-person site visits across the territory to measure existing driveways/parking areas, evaluate soil conditions, and identify shading issues.
Sales Generation: Present quotes that bundle the structural carport with the solar PV system, explaining the dual value (vehicle protection + energy generation).
Pipeline Management: Maintain a robust CRM pipeline, tracking leads from initial site visit through to contract signing and council submission handover.
Territory Management: Efficiently manage travel across QLD and Northern NSW (Coffs Harbour, Byron, Tweed Heads).
Required Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 3 years of proven sales experience in the residential carport, patio, verandah, or pergola industry (essential).
A deep understanding of structural components (steel/timber), roof sheeting, gutter integration, and standard Australian residential construction methods.
Demonstrable track record of exceeding sales targets ($500k+ annual sales preferred).
Experience dealing with local council regulations/Development Approvals for carports/patios is a massive advantage.
Valid Australian driver's license and willingness to travel 4 days per week across the territory.
Structural Literacy: Can confidently discuss column sizing, beam spans, and footing requirements without a calculator.
Groundroots Hustle: You are comfortable knocking on doors, following up with warm leads, and converting \"thinking about it\" into \"sign here.\"
Tech Adaptable: Willing to learn basic solar terminology (kW, inverter, tilt angle) post-hire.
Solution Oriented: Ability to visualize a finished carport on a messy existing driveway and sell that vision.
