I'm currently partnering with a well‐established and highly respected builder to find an experienced Contracts Manager to join their Melbourne team. The company has a strong track record delivering quality projects and is known for doing things the right way. It enjoys long‐standing relationships across the industry and has a genuinely supportive, team‐first culture where people tend to stay long term.
This is a key role within the business. You'll take ownership of the commercial performance across a range of complex projects and work closely with Project Directors, site teams and clients to ensure projects are well‐managed commercially from start to finish.
What you'll be doing
* Manage the end‐to‐end commercial performance of projects
* Develop and implement procurement strategies and manage subcontractor engagement
* Oversee cost control, forecasting and financial reporting
* Handle variations, EOTs and head contract claims
* Provide commercial guidance to senior leadership on risks and opportunities
* Manage contractual disputes and drive strong resolutions
* Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and consultants
* Mentor and support junior commercial team members
Qualifications
* Proven experience as a Contracts Manager or Senior Commercial professional on large‐scale construction projects
* Strong commercial acumen and understanding of contract risk
* Ability to operate in a fast‐paced, delivery‐focused environment
* Confident stakeholder manager with solid negotiation skills
* Experience with Jobpac or ProcurePro (beneficial, not essential)
* A collaborative mindset and passion for developing others
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Construction, Engineering, QS or similar
