We are currently seeking a DLAP Caseworker to support our Driving Licensing Access Program (DLAP).
This role plays a vital part in helping disadvantaged and Aboriginal communities gain the skills and confidence to obtain, retain, and regain their drivers licences.
About the Role
As a DLAP Caseworker, youll work directly with learner drivers, providing in-vehicle training and culturally appropriate support.
Youll be helping participants build safe driving skills and access important licensing initiatives, creating life-changing opportunities for independence and employment.
Your role will go beyond driving lessons - youll be walking alongside participants through every stage of their licensing journey, from preparation to testing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering safe and supportive driving lessons tailored to individual learner needs.
- Facilitating and assisting with online practice tests, ensuring participants are ready for their exams.
- Supporting participants with licence paperwork and applications, including taking them to the Service NSW/RTA to submit, book, and complete tests for their learners licences (Ls).
- Booking and facilitating provisional licence (Ps) tests, helping participants progress to independent driving.
- Assisting with fines and Traffic Offender Intervention Programs, providing guidance and support to help participants get back on track.
- Planning and discussing driving sessions to suit individual learner goals and challenges.
- Completing learner driver logbook entries and program reporting requirements.
- Facilitating access to programs like the Safer Drivers Course and 3-for-1 professional lessons.
- Ensuring drug and alcohol checks are completed before each session if required.
- Maintaining compliance with WHS policies and protected driving practices.
- Providing culturally respectful, empowering, and practical support throughout the process.
What Were Looking For
To be successful in this role, youll need to meet the following requirements:
- Age: 21 years or older
- Licensing: Current unrestricted NSW Class C licence or current NSW Class C Driving Instructor Licence
- Driving history: Held a licence for at least three of the last four years (including P1 or P2)
- Checks:
Satisfactory traffic and criminal recordWillingness to undergo a police character checkWorking With Children Check
- Training: Completion of the TfNSW Helping Learner Drivers Become Safer Drivers workshop (or willingness to complete before starting at the expense of Barray Alliance)
