As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will be providing a vital service to customers assessing their current and future health, safety and independence requirements and identify solutions for appropriate housing and modifications. You will exercise professional independence whilst working closely with one or more local housing teams and receive professional support from a Principal Occupational Therapist to deliver these services
What You Will Be Doing
* Work collaboratively with the local Area Manager/Manager to lead and deliver holistic, place-based and trauma-informed occupational therapy services
* Provide specialist occupational therapy assessment, expertise and advice for customers requiring home modifications, transfers, tenancy management or housing
assistance
* Work closely with allied health or other service partners to flexibly deliver services to customers on-line, by telephone or in person with a focus on safety, service excellence and quality outcomes.
* Contribute to the design and review of new accessible social housing properties
* Provide a consultative service to Department staff and other agencies about the housing needs of customers who have a disability, long-term health condition or who are ageing
* Provide leadership by modelling and fostering professionalism, accountability and ethical behaviour
* Support and help maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning workplace health and safety are applied and a part of day-to-day operations
* Prepare and maintain high quality reports and customer records consistent with departmental and professional requirements
* Contribute to professional development, research, team planning and decisionmaking and the continuous improvement of policies and practices
* Have the opportunity to supervise students and mentor new staff.
