MAIN PURPOSE
Our Adelaide based Head Office is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead a vibrant & experienced team based in Adelaide. You will be a qualified & experienced Senior Engineer amongst your peers. You will be registered or be eligible to register with Engineers Australia EA as a certified practicing Engineer CPEng and be registered or eligible for registration to deliver professional engineering services across each state. You will have extensive experience in the design of Temporary Works, and gained extensive industry experience designing with RMD equipment and structural steel for temporary structures. On-site based experience in construction and consultancy in the design of permanent structures will be considered advantageous.
As the successful candidate you will be responsible for a local office Team and provide authority to Design Engineers Managers who lead Engineering teams interstate at regional branches & across NZ.
Under the direction of the lead Engineer Manager Australia & NZ, you will be responsible for the timely delivery of Engineering technical services on projects across Australia & NZ. You will manage & co-ordinate team resources on a wide range of diverse and complex structures, across all sectors of civil, mining & commercial industries across Australia & NZ. Your will have exceptional communication & leadership skills to manage a team of Senior Engineers, Designers and coordinate project demand with Design Managers across offices.
As team leader, you will be require client facing skills and coordinate with our national sales team to develop cutting-edge, economical & winning designs across projects such as;
- Bridges
- Rail Infrastructure
- Water Infrastructure
- Commercial and Building projects
- Major Civil works
- Mining Infrastructure
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities Include:
- A self-starter with a practical mindset & high spatial IQ visualisation in 3D
- Compliance with RMD-Altrad Engineering Risk Management Policy Procedures and QA Systems.
- Compliance across all Australian / NZ Standards, Codes of Practices and WH&S; legislation.
- Design safe, economical, and efficient formwork & structural steel solutions from conception, to full design and fabrication, applying all relevant Australian/NZ Standards, such as; AS 3610, AS 3600,AS/NZS 1170.0 - 2, AS/NZS 1657, AS/NZS 1576, AS 3990, AS 4100, AS 4991, AS/NZS 4994, AS 1720, AS 3850, AS 1577, AS 4994, NZS 1170.
- Provide technical authority, review and certification of designs / drawings and responsibility for project deliverables compliant with contract documentation.
- Work with Sales & Operations, across national branches & NZ to deliver timely & exceptional technical Engineering services.
- Use market leading CRM software (Salesforce).

To be successful in the role you will;
- Hold full membership with Engineers Australia, with a recognised degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong design skills and experienced in delivering temporary works designs across all sectors of industry using RMD systems.
- Agreeable personality with a passion for high standards and ethics. Can demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and solid Engineering principles.
- Confidence to take ownership of tasks, liase with Sales, Customers, Consultants & co-ordinate a team to deliver projects.
- Proven verbal and written communication skills including consultation, negotiation and conflict resolution
- Well organized, good management skills, lateral thinking and problem solving
- Show competency in the use of MS Office programs such as Excel & Engineering Beam software.
- Proficient level users of AutoCAD 2D, and capable to use 3D, BIM or REVIT and Finite Element & Structural Analysis Software (I.E. Strand 7 or MasterSeries)
- Require to travel Interstate
