Leadership Search for Critical Projects | Mining, Energy & Infrastructure | Precision, Pace & Human Intelligence
Perth, WA | Mining & Resources
A senior resources organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Project Controls Lead to support a portfolio of brownfields capital works within a live, owner-operator mining environment.
This role is not a single-project controls position. It is a portfolio-level role focused on execution readiness, governance, and predictability across multiple assets.
Role scope
You will work closely with Projects, Operations, Finance and senior leadership to bring discipline, transparency and certainty to capital execution.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading front-end planning and execution readiness across a portfolio of brownfields projects
* Developing and maintaining fully integrated schedules (Primavera P6 or equivalent), including logic-linked interfaces between projects and operations
* Establishing and embedding project controls standards, governance frameworks and reporting cadence
* Cost control, forecasting, progress measurement (earned value or equivalent) and variance analysis
* Supporting transition from study / definition into execution, including schedule and cost baselining
* Providing senior-level insight on schedule risk, sequencing conflicts and capital phasing
* Working directly with senior stakeholders to inform decision‐making, not just reporting outcomes
What we're looking for
This role suits someone who is comfortable operating with ambiguity and influence rather than authority.
You will bring:
* Extensive experience in project controls within mining or heavy resources
* Proven exposure to owner‐operator environments, ideally across multiple assets or portfolios
* Strong Primavera P6 capability (or equivalent enterprise scheduling tools)
* Demonstrated experience in brownfields, live‐operations environments
* Strong commercial and governance mindset with the ability to challenge assumptions constructively
* Confidence engaging with senior leaders and holding the line on planning discipline
Why this role
This is a high‐impact role where strong project controls capability directly influences capital outcomes. The position offers visibility, influence, and the opportunity to shape how capital is executed across a portfolio.
