The Department of Communities brings together the services and functions of disability services, child protection and family support, community initiatives and regional services reform.
The Opportunity Integrated Therapy Services is a multidisciplinary, specialist service designed to promote the health and wellbeing of young children with a history of developmental trauma experiences. The service provides coordinated, evidence‐based prevention, early detection and early intervention services to support children's recovery and development.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing infant mental health services for young children living in out‐of‐home care. This is primarily an assessment role. You will work within a multidisciplinary allied health team and collaborate with other practitioners to assess the mental health and early developmental needs of infants aged 0‐4 years. You will assist with coordinating services to support ongoing development and school readiness, and you will provide consultation for Department staff and facilitate psycho‐educational groups with caregivers to support trauma‐informed caregiving.
Advanced knowledge of complex developmental trauma and experience in infant mental health are highly desirable. Additional skills and attributes include commitment to evidence‐based practice and professional development, contribution to service development, effective collaboration, and well‐developed interpersonal and communication skills.
In this role you will be supported through supervision, professional development opportunities and collegial support, making an essential contribution to the social and emotional wellbeing of children and supporting positive life outcomes for this vulnerable cohort.
As a Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologist you will perform within the framework of the Psychology Board of Australia Code of Conduct for Psychologists.
Position details:
* 1 permanent part‐time (0.6 FTE) position available for immediate filling.
* Qualified in Psychologist Operational Officer Category 3: 2‐year post‐graduate Master's degree in Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychology (or approved equivalent) and registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with endorsement in the relevant specialty.
