Postdoctoral Research Fellow: Spatial Transcriptomics & Cancer Research
Full-time, fixed-term position through to 31 December ****. Base salary will range from $82,057 – $109,246 (Academic Level A) + 17% Superannuation. Based at the Translational Research Institute at our Dutton Park campus.
About This Opportunity
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow who is creative and motivated, with expertise in spatial transcriptomics and a background in skin cancer biology, to join our world-class research team at the Frazer Institute. The role supports and drives dermatology research, translating findings into clinical applications. Under the guidance of Professor Kiarash Khosrotehrani, successful candidates will conduct vital research in skin cancer using computational tools (e.g. spatial transcriptomics) to develop novel biomarkers and therapeutics. You will support the major project "Predicting Early-Stage Melanoma at High Risk of Recurrence through MultiOmics Profiling," funded by the US Department of Defense.
Key Responsibilities
Research: Energetically drive research projects, assist in relevant studies and tasks assigned by supervisors, support applications for competitive research funding, publish in reputable journals, and employ best-practice research methodologies.
Supervision and Researcher Development: Assist with supervising students and provide performance feedback and training to research support staff and supervisees.

About You
A PhD in spatial transcriptomics, computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related discipline with demonstrated research experience in oncology.
An emerging research profile in multi-omics data integration and analysis, with a track record of publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific conferences.
A solid foundational understanding of oncology, molecular biology, and histology.
Advanced expertise in multi-omics profiling, including spatial transcriptomics, algorithmic analysis, and machine learning methodologies.
Proficiency in bioinformatics and histological analysis is an advantage.
Excellent scientific writing and communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality manuscripts, reports, and research documentation.
Strong teamwork and interpersonal communication skills.
Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding.
Experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities.
