About The Role
Lead intelligence operations at Yongah Hill Immigration Detention Centre (YHIDC), located at Northam. Reporting to the Centre Manager, you'll be the central point for intelligence gathering, analysis, and reporting. Your work will help prevent incidents, manage risks, and support operational decisions in a complex, high-turnover environment.
You'll collaborate with operational teams, the National Intelligence team, and external agencies to drive intelligence‐led decision‐making and deliver safer, more informed outcomes across multiple detention sites.
This role offers variety, complexity and purpose. It is ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and adapts quickly.
You'll lead a small team, with one direct report (Intelligence Analyst), and provide pastoral care to the Risk Analyst team.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead intelligence operations across YHIDC.
Collect, analyse, and disseminate intelligence related to detainee behaviour, contraband, threats, and external risks.
Produce timely, actionable intelligence reports to inform operational decisions.
Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders (ABF, WA Police, AFP).
Monitor behavioural trends and contribute to proactive risk mitigation.
Support staff training in intelligence awareness and secure information handling.
Contribute to incident response planning and intelligence policy development
To be successful:
* Cert IV in Security Operations or Technical Security, or equivalent(mandatory)
* Significant experience in intelligence, investigations, or security analysis, ideally within a detention, correction, law enforcement, or defence setting.
* Strong understanding of intelligence principles, risk identification, and threat analysis.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels.
* Flexibility to respond to critical incidents outside standard work hours
* Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance
