About the role
This role supports the logistical and resource requirements of the Emergency Response team at Australian Red Cross. This position focuses on resource ordering, tracking and delivery of Emergency Services resources and real-time support during emergency activities.
During non-activation period this role will focus on ensuring the readiness and availability of Emergency Services resources. This includes maintaining and tracking inventory, coordinating procurement and replenishment, pre-positioning equipment for future activations, supporting training exercises, and contributing to the development and improvement of logistical processes and procedures. The role ensures that all resources are properly stored, maintained, and accounted for, enabling the Emergency Services team to deploy efficiently and effectively when disasters occur.
About you
You will bring sound knowledge and proficiency in use of software applications including databases and Microsoft suite of programs along with working knowledge and relevant experience in supporting logistics and administration.
In addition, you'll demonstrate experience in administrative support in logistics, ideally in emergency, humanitarian, or community settings.
Key behavioural and technical capabilities
Thorough knowledge of inventory management, supply chain processes, and resource deployment activities, including emergency response logistics and equipment handling.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver outputs within specified time frames.
Ability to work under general supervision, autonomously and as part of a team within a matrix structure.
Ability to assess, evaluate and solve problems by reference to procedures, methods and instructions.
Ability to exercise judgement and initiative within defined policies and practices.
Ability to follow and implement frameworks, policies, procedures, work instructions, guidelines and standards.
Ability to provide reliable administrative and coordination support across logistics activities.
Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining records.
Clear and respectful communication with team members, volunteers, and external partners.
Willingness to adapt and remain flexible in dynamic and time-sensitive situations.
Basic understanding of emergency management logistics, with a willingness to learn.
Ability to use systems and tools for data entry, tracking, and reporting.
