Project Overview
The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea. Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure.
Job Summary
Assist in interpreting and integrating environmental, health and safety requirements into project planning, design, construction, and operations. Provide input and technical guidance, assist with communications, track performance trends, and conduct inspections and monitoring to keep employees safe and continuously improve project health and safety.
Major Responsibilities
* Assist in implementation of Bechtel's ES&H program and Management System, including compliance with standards, regulatory requirements, and contractual commitments.
* Develop, implement and maintain programs, systems, and procedures for the safety and health of employees and protection of the environment and communities.
* Maintain ES&H databases, including incident events, audit/assessment findings and corrective actions.
* Perform statistical analysis of ES&H data to identify performance trends and contributing factors.
* Identify and coordinate unique software systems and electronic innovation used by ES&H personnel.
* Lead teams in conducting risk assessment, studies, mitigation planning, and monitoring in response to ES&H issues.
* Prepare communications, write reports, and prepare documents for program execution and records retention.
* Assist with incident notifications, lead investigations, and prepare incident investigation reports.
* Recommend and implement improvements in processes, procedures and work activities to minimize hazard potential.
* Participate in and support employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs.
* Support ES&H recognition programs.
* Research issues and provide regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
* Provide support to ES&H field and office personnel across all disciplines.
Education and Experience Requirements
Typically requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) related to occupational safety or health and 8-10 years of relevant experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
* Proficiency in assisting construction with development of risk assessments and associated job hazard analysis.
* Intermediate knowledge and use of Microsoft software applications.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Be solution oriented with effective and efficient time management to deliver quality products.
* Ability to work in a diverse team environment.
