Senior Security Engineer
Job Description:
Westpac Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Security Engineer to join our Digital Technology – Security Engineering team. In this hands-on role, you will monitor threats, respond to incidents, and coach developers on secure coding practices.
As a key member of our frontline security team, you will work across engineering squads and security specialists to identify vulnerabilities, tune defences, and uplift the overall security posture of our applications and platforms.
This is a permanent, full-time role based in Sydney (Gadigal Land) or Gold Coast (Yugambeh Land), with flexible hybrid working arrangements.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Proficient in one or more languages: Swift, Kotlin, Java, C#, TypeScript
* Experience working with edge security platforms like Cloudflare or Akamai preferred but not essential
* Ability to detect, assess and remediate vulnerabilities in live environments
* Understanding of WAF/WAAP rules, threat analysis and log monitoring
* Strong communication skills and passion for coaching developers
* Familiar with cloud platforms: Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure
