Leda Education Support Centre (ESC) is committed to providing a safe, inclusive learning environment where all students can achieve their potential. Leda ESC was opened in 1992 and caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 who have been diagnosed with an Intellectual Disability, Global Development Delay and/or Autism with a demonstrated high educational need.
Role
The Associate Principal will be a valued member of a committed and experienced leadership team, working collaboratively to support students with a range of disabilities including Autism and Intellectual Disabilities. The successful applicant will be an approachable and credible leader who communicates effectively, builds strong relationships and leads with consistency, empathy and purpose.
Responsibilities
* Lead the implementation and monitoring of whole‐school priorities aligned with the Leda ESC Business Plan.
* Guide the consistent application of agreed pedagogical practices, ensuring clarity, shared understanding and high expectations.
* Drive excellence in teaching and learning across the school, including the ongoing development and embedding of the school's pedagogical framework and approaches such as Explicit Instruction.
* Support students with complex disabilities, trauma backgrounds and high individual needs, promoting a calm, inclusive and supportive school environment.
* Lead improvement initiatives that enhance student wellbeing, engagement and learning outcomes.
* Participate in the development of inclusive education strategies and trauma‐informed practice.
Qualifications
* Strong knowledge of inclusive education and disability.
* Experience with Disability Resource System (DRS) processes, Special Educational Needs (SEN) reporting, attendance monitoring and trauma‐informed practice.
* Deep commitment to equity, inclusion and student‐centred practice, aligned with the school values.
* Previous experience in a leadership role within an inclusive or special education setting is highly desirable.

Eligibility
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with work rights for the term of the appointment.
* Hold registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia.
* Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start.
* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
