Job Overview
Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) are looking for a Senior Survivability Engineer to join Phantom Works Australia. The Boeing Phantom Works Australia team is the home of rapid capability development and innovation, delivering disruptive advantages in support of Defence operational capabilities.
This role is based in Brisbane and reports into the Phantom Works Australia Prototype Engineering Manager.
The Opportunity
* The day‐to‐day development of next generation disruptive technologies and capabilities.
* Development of Survivability capabilities, from first principles to integration and sustainment.
* Collaborate across multi‐disciplined teams, designing and maintaining a suite of capabilities that transition into the larger Boeing business.
Responsibilities
* Design, develop, test, integrate and maintain Survivability technologies and capabilities on new and existing platforms.
* Develop and validate electromagnetic requirements for electrical/electronic systems, mechanical systems, interconnects and structures.
* Develop architectures to integrate systems and components into higher level systems and platforms.
* Perform trade studies, modelling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnect and system performance and optimise design around established requirements.
* Define and conduct tests to validate performance of designs to requirements.
* Manage appropriate aspects of supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance with requirements.
* Provide support to products throughout their lifecycle by developing root‐cause analysis of anomalies and other engineering support as requested.
* Support project management by providing work statements, budget, schedule and other required inputs and by reporting project status.
* Write appropriate sections of proposals to support development of new business.
Experience/Qualifications
* Experience with aerospace RF, advanced RF materials, optical and infrared systems.
* Experience with the design, modelling, analysis, test and verification of RF, optical and infrared systems and materials.
* Experience in materials and subsystem laboratory or field measurements.
* Experience and familiarity using physics simulation software to model platforms and subsystems.
* Experience utilizing scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl) and programming languages and analysis environments (e.g., C++, MATLAB) to post‐process and analyse modelled or measured data.
* Experience with low technology readiness level (TRL) concepts and prototypes.
* Proven capability in the progression of concepts to defined systems.
* Strong knowledge and/or demonstrated experience in autonomous systems and platform development programmes.
* High degree of independence and problem‐solving ability in the search for novel solutions.
* Ability to clearly communicate your vision and ideas with technical and non‐technical stakeholders.
* Tertiary engineering qualification and experience in a relevant technical discipline.
* Applicants must be Australian Citizens and have the ability to obtain a minimum NV‐1 Australian Defence security clearance.
