Position: Welder – Structural Steel (First Class)
Responsibilities
● Interpret structural blueprints, technical diagrams, and project specifications to accurately determine fabrication and installation requirements for steel components.
● Select appropriate metal materials for each project, ensuring proper inspection, cleaning, and preparation before fabrication begins.
● Cut steel sections and profiles to the required dimensions using hand tools, cutting machinery, and oxy-fuel cutting equipment.
● Shape, bend, or curve steel sections and pipes using manual tools, specialised machinery, or heat-forming and hammering techniques.
● Position and align components precisely prior to assembly, using measuring devices and adjustment tools to ensure accuracy.
● Assemble and secure steel parts through various welding processes, as well as bolting and riveting methods, according to project needs.
● Inspect welds to assess bead consistency, penetration depth, and overall precision, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
● Perform final finishing and cleaning of fabricated items, preparing them for transportation, installation, or protective coating application.
Skills & Qualifications
* Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication Trade) or equivalent.
* Minimum 1 year of full-time or 2 years of part-time experience in a similar role.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards.
Salary: $76,600 per year plus superannuation
