About The Role
This role is the operational and technical backbone of CTM's Tramada data centre infrastructure function. It combines hands‐on ownership of current data centre environments with clear accountability to modernise the platform and move towards a cloud‐led architecture. The role will stabilise and optimise existing infrastructure while defining and executing a pragmatic roadmap for on‐prem to cloud migration. It also acts as a technical leader across infrastructure, supporting the manager while lifting overall engineering standards and pace of delivery.
Essential
* A diploma or degree in information technology, science or computer science, management or related discipline is preferred but not essential
* 8+ years' experience in an IT support or systems administration role, with at least 2 years in a team leadership or management capacity
* Practical experience managing physical infrastructure, including servers, networking equipment, and end‐user hardware
* Strong decision‐making capability
* Ability to manage vendor and managed service provider relationships effectively
* Strong organisational, troubleshooting and problem‐solving skills across hardware, software, and network environments
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non‐technical stakeholders
* Exceptional technical, logical thought process
* Strong hands‐on experience managing enterprise infrastructure, including data centres
* Deep Linux expertise (build, configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning)
* Proven experience with virtualisation platforms (Hyper‐V or similar)
* Practical experience with container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
* Strong scripting capability (Python preferred, Bash also valuable)
* Solid understanding of networking concepts (routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs)
* Experience working in DevOps or platform engineering environments
* Exposure to at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
* Demonstrated experience leading infrastructure or platform modernisation initiatives
Preferred
* Experience with infrastructure‐as‐code (Terraform or similar)
* Exposure to hybrid cloud and migration programs
* Experience integrating with monitoring and SIEM platforms
* Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks
