The team: CYMHS Head to Health Kids (H2HK Tas) is an integrated secondary level mental health service for emerging complexity for the 0-12 year age group and represents an important addition to a child and family mental health stepped care model in Tasmania. This early intervention service enables families to access a range of evidence-based individual and group interventions and supports for mild to moderate emotional, behavioural, social, relational, and developmental challenges. The Head to Health Kids Tas service works with families, universal, secondary, and tertiary service providers, to provide integrated and holistic care. The Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) is a key co-service partner.
As part of the Head to Health Kids team, the role will:
Support the establishment of the CYMHS North Head to Health Kids Tasmania service.
Undertake assessments, care planning and delivery of individual and group secondary level mental health interventions to children and families, including culturally appropriate services.
Develop and support collaborative care partnerships with service providers including across primary health, child health and parenting, paediatrics, child safety, education, and early childhood programs and services.
Collect and review client and service outcome data and participate in activities to improve client outcomes.
Contribute to continuing quality and safety, service development and improvement, and career development processes and standards.
Duties
Undertakes the delivery of specialist services to clients of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, Adult Community, Inpatient and Extended Treatment, ward 4K Launceston General Hospital both inpatient and community, based on best practice principles and within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework. Promotes community awareness in relation to mental health.
Provides clinical leadership and expert knowledge in all aspects of primary health care. Administers an advanced clinical practice framework for the management of clients with complex needs.
Within the multidisciplinary team, develops, implements, coordinates and evaluates programs and activities to improve client outcomes.
Details of appointment:
Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 30 June 2026. Hours are negotiable with the successful applicant.
Salary and Benefits Salary:
Registered Nurse, Grade 5 – $106,570 to $112,440 per annum. Employer superannuation contribution is 11.5% on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023. In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type.

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
Current Working with Children Registration
Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
Desirable criteria:
Minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience in an area relevant to the role
Postgraduate qualification or working towards a postgraduate qualification relevant to the role
Current Driver’s Licence
