The primary purpose of this role is to provide operational and technical leadership to the Eligibility and Disputes teams to ensure timely and accurate decision‐making and governance throughout while also contributing appropriate technical input as required. Partner with the Eligibility Specialist and the leadership team to ensure best practice eligibility and dispute management are delivered.
About the Role
* Ensure best practice eligibility and dispute management is implemented, providing technical leadership on complex claims and serving as a key reference point for Eligibility Specialists.
* Deliver expert technical guidance, coaching, and capability uplift to Eligibility Specialists and Officers, working closely with the Eligibility Team Leader to support quality decision‐making.
* Endorse and review eligibility decisions in line with legislative requirements, including the WIRC Act 2013, case law, and WorkSafe decision‐making guidelines, including adverse decision reviews.
* Manage stakeholder engagement by providing specialist advice to employers, consultants, legal representatives, and internal teams, supporting effective communication and dispute resolution.
* Oversee post‐decision reviews, WICRS outcomes, projects, and improvement initiatives, ensuring delivery within required standards, timeframes, and customer‐focused outcomes.
About You
* Demonstrated experience in claims, disputes, legal, or technical management within the workers' compensation environment, with strong understanding of the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act (WIRC Act).
* Proven technical knowledge of eligibility and disputes processes, including APAs, Schedule Gs, and associated frameworks, with experience providing coaching and mentoring.
* Strong leadership and organisational capability, with the ability to plan, prioritise, manage competing demands, and effectively identify, manage, and escape conflicts.
* Excellent attention to detail and communication skills, with the ability to deliver accurate, high‐quality outcomes and communicate clearly, confidently, and with influence to a range of stakeholders.
* A passion for leveraging emerging technologies to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
