Overview
The Department of Communities brings together services and functions of disability services, child protection and family support, community initiatives and regional services reform. The Disability Division develops and delivers policy, programs and services that enhance the inclusion and participation of people with disability across Western Australia, working across portfolios and in partnership with key stakeholders locally and nationally.
Responsibilities
Level 6 Senior Policy Officer
Support stakeholder engagement and co‐design, and contribute to State and Commonwealth reform.
* Completing complex research, analysis, reviews and evaluation of policy.
* Assisting in the management and coordination of strategic projects to ensure outcomes align with Department and government priorities.
* Communicating and engaging effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including people with lived experience of disability.
* Providing strategic advice and input into policies, strategies and legislative reform.
* Preparing reports, briefing notes, speeches and other written material.
Level 7 Principal Policy Officer
* Leading the commissioning of community programmes that deliver outcomes sought by people with disability.
* Coordinating and contributing to the development of key organisational policies and strategies, initiatives and processes.
* Building and maintaining productive relationships across government and sector partners, communicating complex and sensitive information, influencing outcomes and supporting strategic decision‐making.
* Developing, implementing and monitoring policies, strategies and frameworks.
* Coordinating and undertaking individual policy and other projects with a complex across‐agency or sector‐wide focus.
* Researching, preparing and presenting high‐level reports, briefing notes, speeches and correspondence relevant to the outputs of the Division for a wide audience including parliament, ministers and senior Director‐General staff.

Senior and Principal Policy Officer positions will be filled in the following Directorates.
Policy and Reform
* Lead development of statewide policy such as the State Disability Strategy.
* Provide policy support to the service delivery functions.
* Lead legislative reform.
* Lead the response to national disability reform, such as the NDIS Review and the Disability Royal Commission.
Disability Engagement and Stewardship
* Lead engagement and investment in disability community and the sector.
* Lead lived experience engagement.
* Lead engagement with mainstream government agencies on disability intersections.
* Manage the performance and co‐governance of the NDIS in WA.
