About the Business Unit

The Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group, comprising Corrections Victoria, Justice Health and Justice Services, plays an integral role in developing safer and more resilient communities and in delivering a trusted justice and community safety system.

Corrections Victoria implements policies, programs, and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of prisoners and seeks to rehabilitate offenders by addressing underlying causes of offending behaviour. It also sets strategy, policy and standards for the state's correctional facilities and develops programs for prisoner rehabilitation and community‐based supervision of offenders.

As part of the CJS group, the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre (DPFC) is a 694‐bed maximum‐security facility for female offenders located within the West Metropolitan Region, Department of Justice.

About the Role

The HR Supervisor will report to the Workforce Development Manager and work with People, Safety and Culture team members. The role provides responsive and proactive service on a range of operational and strategic human resources matters including employment conditions, recruitment and retention of staff, workforce planning, performance management, learning and development, employee relations, dispute resolution, equity and diversity, occupational health and safety and workers compensation.

The HR Supervisor also undertakes a range of human resource functions, fostering the desired organisational culture, coordinating people, systems and processes, and engaging with internal and external stakeholders.

An integral part of the HR Supervisor role is in‐person presence at the location. The role requires the incumbent to regularly attend their usual place of work.

Key Responsibilities
* Manage a small team of staff who provide rostering operations, recruitment and HR administration support.
* Oversee the preparation of the master rosters ensuring staff are rostered to cover prison posts on a daily basis, liaise with Operations Managers to achieve satisfactory levels of staffing for the safe running of the prison in accordance with the rostering principles.
* Establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders to create mutually beneficial partnerships.
About You
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in generalist human resources functions.
* Experience providing advice on workplace matters, performance management, workplace change and employee development.
* Experience understanding and advising on enterprise awards and agreements.
Qualifications/Requirements
* Qualifications or equivalent experience in Human Resources is desirable.
