The Bureau's Data and Digital group (DDG) is responsible for the ICT systems the Bureau relies on to provide trusted, reliable and responsive weather, water, climate, ocean and space weather services for Australia – all day, every day.
The Infrastructure Services Section within the DDG SIM Program seeks a Data Centre Services Manager to take accountability for the Bureau's Data Centre environments that house mission critical ICT assets. Our Data Centres are well established, highly secured and closely managed environments that require ongoing stewardship to maintain them at a high standard of maturity. They are an underpinning enterprise capability that enables the Bureau's most important ICT systems, including High-Performance Supercomputing infrastructure.
To be successful in the role you will:
* Bring with you and contribute relevant hands-on experience and expertise in governance, management and operations of Tier 4 Data Centres to a high standard of maturity, and demonstrate personal accountability and stewardship for the state of a Data Centre facility.
* Have an awareness of applicable best practices and patterns, design and implementation concepts and principles, and specific considerations for their implementation in an Australian government agency.
* Have experience with multi-location facilities supporting 24x7 mission critical services, and have excellent planning and co-ordination skills to support technical teams in the deployment and removal of systems in those facilities, including capacity management.
* Be able and fit to perform physical work in a Data Centre environment, including safe heavy lifting and movement of plant and equipment, usage of specialised equipment and tools, with an applied knowledge of health and safety and personal protective equipment.
* Be aware of government cyber security frameworks and how they apply to ICT infrastructure.
* Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
