About the Role

In this rewarding role, you will provide trauma-informed counselling to children (primarily aged 0–12) impacted by homelessness, family violence and adversity. You'll deliver flexible therapeutic support including individual sessions, family work and group programs, tailored to each child's needs. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, you will undertake assessments, contribute to risk and safety planning, and develop practical, child-focused support plans.

This role is permanent part time, 68.40 (0.9 EFT) a fortnight.

You'll partner closely with families, case managers and community services, provide specialist advice, and advocate for positive outcomes—helping children feel safe, supported and able to heal. This role combines outreach and office-based work and offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact through early intervention.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver trauma-informed therapeutic counselling to children and young people through individual, family and group-based interventions
* Conduct comprehensive assessments and contribute to risk assessment and safety planning to support child wellbeing
* Develop and implement flexible, child-focused support plans in collaboration with families and referring services
* Provide therapeutic family work and guidance to support parents/carers in meeting their child's needs
* Collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated, integrated service delivery
* Offer secondary consultation and professional advice to colleagues and partner agencies
* Advocate for children and families to support positive and sustainable outcomes
* Maintain accurate, timely case notes, reports and documentation in line with organisational and legislative requirements
* Participate in team meetings, supervision and ongoing professional development
* Promote a safe, inclusive and culturally responsive environment for all children and families

About You

You're a compassionate and capable practitioner who is:

* Qualified in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or a related discipline
* Experienced in working therapeutically with children and families
* Knowledgeable in trauma, attachment and child development frameworks
* Skilled in risk assessment and holistic care planning
* Committed to strengths-based, culturally safe and inclusive practice

Experience working with family violence and/or homelessness contexts will be highly regarded.
