What you'll be doing
* Lead, mentor and support a team of Zoologists, setting direction and fostering development.
* Oversee delivery of fauna projects including surveys, research and monitoring, taxonomy and data management.
* Provide day-to-day guidance to Project Managers; drive consistency across scope, schedule, budget and QA/QC.
* Review and sign off reports, proposals and tenders; ensure technical accuracy and clear client messaging.
* Coordinate and plan fieldwork logistics and resourcing; ensure HSE standards are met.
* Provide expert advice on survey design, species identification, impact assessment and mitigation.
* Undertake some report writing and business development to maintain and grow client relationships.
* Improve systems, procedures and resourcing for the fauna function; contribute to team strategy and growth.
About you
* Undergraduate and postgraduate degree in Zoology, Environmental Biology (or equivalent).
* 10+ years' practical experience in vertebrate zoology and/or taxonomy, ideally within consulting.
* Proven leadership and mentoring capability; comfortable conducting HR/performance reviews.
* Strong project management and report review skills; confident coordinating multi-project workloads.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder skills; existing industry networks are highly regarded.
* Team-first, down-to-earth and technically proficient; enjoys helping others succeed.
