About the Role
The role is accountable to the Mine Technology Lead and is responsible for the installation, support, system planning, and troubleshooting of mine site technology infrastructure. This is predominantly for the underground operation, specifically including (but not limited to) radio systems and wireless networks; however, there may also be some surface operational requirements. The role is site-based on an 8/6 roster.
Responsibilities
* Assist with the installation of radio and WiFi equipment, including leaky feeder cabling, WiFi access points, and radiating cable.
* Provide support and troubleshooting for the mine site communication infrastructure, specifically radio systems (TETRA digital, UHF radio), as well as the wireless network to ensure safe and efficient operation.
* Provide system administration for the TETRA digital UHF radio system.
* Ensure reliable wireless communications across the mine to enable effective network coverage.
* Provide hands‐on, first‐level support for the repair and maintenance of technology hardware.
* Inspect communications and electronic systems to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and business needs.
* Analyse equipment failure trends and recommend replacement equipment, components, or continuous improvement initiatives.
* Maintain the radio fleet map for the TETRA digital UHF radio system.
* Repair radios where possible.
* Provide radio programming for subcontractors and other staff.
* Monitor telecommunications system performance and actively seek opportunities for continuous improvement.
* Terminate and repair fibre cabling.
* Provide support and troubleshooting across the site for all operational technologies as required.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in a communications/systems role.
* Proficient computer skills.
* Experience with fleet management systems with HP GPS (e.g. MineStar, Modular, Jigsaw).
* Underground communications experience (DAS, leaky feeder).
* ACMA Open Cabling Licence with fibre, structured cabling, and coaxial endorsements.
* Ability to obtain a Security Installers Licence.
* Rigging ticket (desirable).
* EWP ticket (desirable).
* Integrated tool ticket (desirable).Effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience working with wireless networks and radio systems.
* C Class driver's licence.
* Current and ongoing valid permanent work rights in Australia (mandatory).
