Job title: Motor Mechanic
Reporting to: Supervisor/Director
Salary: AUD $80,000 per annum

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Responsible for maintaining, service, diagnoses and repair mechanical parts of lightweight motor vehicles and associated equipment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Discuss problems with car drivers or vehicle operators to discover faults, listen to engines, fit, and operate special test equipment and test drive vehicles
* Review work orders and discuss work with supervisor
* Change, repair or replace worn and faulty parts and components of automotive systems, including fuel, brake, steering and suspension systems, transmissions, differentials, drive axles and shafts, emission control and exhaust systems, engines and electrical, cooling and climate control systems by using hand tools and other specialized automotive repair equipment and referring to manuals as necessary
* Reassemble, test, clean and adjust repaired or replaced parts or assemblies, use various instruments to make sure they are working properly and put them back into the vehicle
* Check motors that are running, road test motor vehicles, and test automotive systems and components using testing devices to find the problem in the vehicle
* Diagnose, repair and replace engine management/fuel injection components
* Test and repair electrical systems such as lighting, instrumentation, ignition and electronic fuel injection
* Test and change repaired systems to the required standards
* Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications and tune-ups
* Inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates or list the work required before a certificate can be issued
* Advise customers on work performed, general vehicle conditions and future repair requirements
* Follow safety procedures
ACADEMICS AND TRADES QUALIFICATION
Minimum Certificate III level qualifications or equivalent with 3 years mandatory work experience in similar position. In the absence of formal qualifications, 3 years of work experience in similar position will suffice.
WORK EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
* Industry knowledge and experience is highly advantageous
* Excellent diagnostic and repair skills
* Ability to handle various tools (e.g. pliers) and heavy equipment (e.g. lift)
* Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids,
* chemicals etc.
* Excellent physical condition
* An honest and reliable work ethic
* Sound communication skills
