About the Role
The role of the Indigenous Service Support Officer is to assist Youth Justice Service Centre staff to provide support and core criminogenic programs to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people subject to youth justice orders.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist and support youth justice staff and relevant community stakeholders in culturally appropriate assessment, case planning and programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families in accordance with relevant legislative provisions, statutory delegations, departmental policies, procedures, and contemporary best practice.
* Implement culturally appropriate individualised case plans in collaboration with Case Managers, negotiating with service providers, and linking clients to the services/supports.
Mandatory Requirements
* Drivers' licence: Occupational requirement to hold an unrestricted "C" Class driver's licence and to drive government vehicles during day-to-day work.
* Blue Card: Must hold a valid Blue Card issued by the Queensland government before commencing the role.
* Pre‐employment screening: Includes serious disciplinary history disclosure, reference and qualifications check, and eligibility to work in Australia.
* Workers' Compensation disclosure: Under section 571B of the Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003, prospective workers must disclose any pre-existing conditions that may affect the performance of the role.
* Compliance: False or misleading disclosure under section 571C of the Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 will disqualify the worker from compensation or damages for aggravating injury or medical conditions.
