Volunteer Peer Exercise Leader – Water Exercise
About the Role
As a Volunteer Peer Exercise Leader – Water Exercise, you will support DPV Health's vision by facilitating inclusive and engaging water‐based exercise sessions. These low‐impact exercises are specifically designed to promote general fitness, flexibility, and relaxation for participants, especially those managing conditions such as osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, and rheumatoid arthritis. This is an excellent opportunity to make a direct and positive impact on the health and independence of your community.
Key Responsibilities
* Facilitating structured water exercise sessions promoting fitness, flexibility, and relaxation.
* Ensuring participant safety at all times, with a proactive approach to any unsafe situations.
* Verifying that all participants have completed the required Medical Clearance Forms.
* Maintaining accurate participant attendance records.
* Reporting any Occupational Health & Safety concerns, complaints, or issues to the Volunteer Supervisor.
* Conducting sessions following guidelines set by Musculoskeletal Australia (MSK) training.
Desired Skills and Experience
* Strong communication skills with the ability to engage sensitively and effectively with participants.
* A proactive approach to problem‐solving and ability to uphold high standards of service delivery.
* Completion of Water Exercise Leader Training with Musculoskeletal Australia (MSK) or equivalent, with ongoing biennial training updates.
* A commitment to ensuring the safety of participants, including assisting clients with mobility needs poolside.
* Ability to work well within a team and contribute to a positive, inclusive environment.
Fine Print
Successful applicants will need to undergo a National Police Check. A valid Working with Children Check (Volunteer status) required.
