About the role
The Senior Lecturer, Education-focused Academic will provide leadership of the Field Education team as Academic Lead, overseeing units and course teaching teams in both the UG and PG programs to improve student learning outcomes.
Responsibilities
* Lead unit and course teaching teams and work collaboratively with other faculty teaching teams to develop effective curricula and learning material (including through course leadership roles).
* Lead review of units and courses and implement refinements.
* Integrate industry, clinical and/or research practice into unit/course design to improve student learning experiences, success, engagement, and resources.
* Develop effective assessment tasks and rubrics at unit and course level and provide clear assessment criteria and timely feedback to learners to demonstrate learning outcomes.
* Lead moderation of assessment tasks at course level and adapt practices to improve learning outcomes.
* Foster a culture of collaboration and educational excellence within the discipline.
* Conduct mentoring of colleagues to help improve their teaching practices.
* Provide academic support to students within units and courses and work collaboratively to improve student support services to optimise student outcomes.
Qualifications
* PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., social work) and/or advanced qualifications and experience in the relevant discipline area.
* Demonstrated capacity and passion for leadership and line management of a Field Education team working with academics and professional staff, including planning workloads, recruiting, training and management of field educators and liaison staff.
* Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design and research supervision.
* Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning.
* Ability to deliver effective teaching practices to improve student success and engagement.
* Responsibility for ensuring ongoing compliance with the Australian Social Work Education and Accreditation Standards (ASWEAS) and the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW) Field Education Standards across both the Masters of Social Work (MSW) and Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) courses.
Special Requirements
* This position can be based either at the Geelong Waterfront or Warrnambool Campus and will require the incumbent to teach on campus at the Waterfront Campus.
* This position requires the incumbent to hold a current National Police Record Check.
* Eligibility for Membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
