The Opportunity
As a Key Account Manager, you will be responsible for the retention, some strategic new business account growth and commercial optimisation within a portfolio of strategic customers.
This role is focused on protecting and expanding share of wallet through long term partnerships, contract renewals, pricing strategy and cross service solutions. Its an exciting and newly created role based in Townsville to meet the growing needs of the geographical location and unique operating environment.
The customer base cover Key accounts across central and North Queensland and also some high profile Northern Territory accounts.
This is not a transactional sales role. It is a relationship led, consultative KAM role operating in a complex, multi service environment.
Key Accountabilities
Customer and Portfolio Ownership
Own and manage a portfolio of key accounts across total waste management servicesAct as the primary strategic contact for customers, building trusted long-term partnershipsDeliver retention, re-sign and revenue growth outcomes aligned to portfolio targetsLead customer governance, performance reviews and contract management
Commercial and Financial Performance
Develop and execute account plans to maximise revenue, margin and share of walletLead contract renewals, price increases and commercial negotiationsPrepare and manage quotes, tenders and commercial proposalsApply strong financial and commercial acumen to decision making
Growth and Cross Collaboration
Identify and deliver cross sell opportunities across Cleanaway’s service offeringWork closely with operations, customer service, HSE, legal and bid teams to deliver a single Cleanaway value propositionTranslate customer needs into operationally viable and commercially sustainable solutions
Governance, Systems and Reporting
Maintain accurate CRM, pipeline and forecasting dataEnsure compliance with governance, safety and risk management requirementsAct in line with Our Cleanaway Way and the Cleanaway Leadership Model
About You
You are an experienced Key Account Manager who thrives in complex environments and understands how to balance customer value with commercial outcomes.
You Will Bring
Proven experience managing key or national accounts in a multi service or complex B2B environmentStrong negotiation, relationship management and influencing capabilityDemonstrated commercial and financial acumenA consultative farmer style approach focused on retention and growthStrong stakeholder management across internal and external groupsHigh discipline in CRM, reporting and account planning
Experience in fmcg, waste, environmental services, logistics, infrastructure or industrial services is highly regarded.
