The Role
Live and work in the heart of the Pilbara and help bring rural and regional Australia's stories to life. The ABC is looking for a Reporter, Rural to join our Karratha team. You'll create engaging, high-quality content across digital, audio and broadcast platforms, focusing on rural and primary industries. You'll be part of a collaborative newsroom delivering trusted journalism that connects local communities with national audiences.
The Job
* Create compelling rural and primary industry content for multiple platforms.
* Prepare and present stories for programs including The Country Hour and Rural Report.
* Identify, develop and share story ideas with colleagues across the ABC network.
* Build strong relationships with rural communities and industry stakeholders.
* Contribute to editorial planning to maximise reach and audience engagement.

About You
You're a passionate storyteller with strong editorial judgement and a keen interest in rural and regional Australia.
You'll have:
* Demonstrated experience in journalism or agriculture, with the ability to source, analyse and present stories.
* Strong understanding of rural and regional issues and the audiences they impact.
* Proven ability to build networks and develop engaging, original content across platforms.
