We provide independent and confidential advocacy to ensure people's voices are heard, their rights are respected, and they have access to the services they need. As a volunteer, you'll be part of a passionate team helping to create real, positive change.
What You'll be Doing
We are looking for a caring and capable Client Support Volunteer to assist individuals with disability in completing important paperwork. This might include:
* Applications for government payments (e.g. Centrelink)
* Department of Housing applications
* Superannuation withdrawal requests
* Other essential forms as needed
This is ad-hoc support, depending on client need, and is ideal for someone who can offer flexibility and a genuine desire to help others.
Key Responsibilities
* Support clients in completing paperwork clearly and accurately
* Engage clients by asking questions and paraphrasing their responses to ensure understanding
* Validate that the final documents reflect the client's intentions and preferences
* Encourage feedback and make edits based on the client's input
* Maintain strict confidentiality and respect at all times
* Collaborate with Advocacy WA staff to uphold advocacy best practices
You'll Be a Great Fit If You
* Have strong written and verbal communication skills
* Are confident working with forms, official documents, or online applications
* Have empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
* Respect client autonomy and understand person-centred practice
* Are flexible and happy to volunteer on an as-needed basis
* Have an interest or background in disability, social services, or community work (desirable but not essential)
