The Child & Adolescent Health Unit at Mackay Base Hospital is seeking a Senior Paediatric Registrar – General Paediatrics for a temporary full-time basis (76 hours per week).
Role details
Position reports to eight Consultant Paediatricians and, throughout the year, to the Paediatric Training Program Coordinator and Clinical Director.
Responsibilities
* Provide paediatric services under supervision within a multi-disciplinary team clinic model to ensure effective diagnostic and intervention care planning.
* Plan clinical care of children under supervision, participating in interdisciplinary case conferencing and management.
* Educate and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate trainees in paediatrics, medical students, and trainees in related health disciplines.
* Ensure appropriate and concise documentation of contemporaneous medical records, including best practice, timely reports (including medico-legal when needed) and letters.
About the team
The Child & Adolescent Health Unit takes around 5,000 admissions per year and provides a regional referral service, including an 8-bed Special Care Nursery with neonates >32 weeks. It is staffed by eight paediatricians, ten registrars/PHOs, six junior staff, and visiting medical and surgical specialists. Telehealth is used to assist families and reduce travel.
