Osborne Richardson has partnered with Blacktown City Council to find a cracking Mechanical Design Engineer with a flair for technical writing. Based at Rooty Hill depot and reporting to the Principal Engineer, this contract role sits right in the heart of the council's City Fleet team — and it's a genuine dual-discipline gig. What you'll be doing: Creating, modifying and reviewing detailed mechanical drawings and designs using CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar) Developing and maintaining technical documentation — user manuals, operating instructions, maintenance guides and safety protocols Conducting technical risk assessments on mechanical systems and components, identifying risks and recommending design modifications Translating complex engineering content into clear, accessible documents for technical and non-technical audiences Collaborating with engineers, project managers and QA personnel across multidisciplinary teams What you'll bring: Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design or a related field Proven proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks or equivalent) Demonstrated technical writing experience — manuals, specs, safety docs Experience conducting formal technical risk assessments on mechanical systems Ability to interpret and analyse complex technical drawings Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements Strong attention to detail and communication skills across all levels What's on offer: Location: Blacktown City Council, Rooty Hill depot Contract: ASAP until end of 2206 with likely extension Rate: $75/hr Super (38 hour week) If this sounds like your kind of role, give Owen Millar a shout on 0414 706 605 or email Owen@oraus.com.au Always happy to chat.
