Climate and Decarbonisation Advisory Consultant
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Climate and Decarbonisation Advisory Consultant to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on impactful projects that contribute directly to Australia's decarbonisation efforts.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality outcomes, influencing strategic investment decisions, and shaping the development of talented teams. They will leverage our national multidisciplinary expertise and global scale to address critical climate challenges and drive sustainable change.
* Develop and implement robust roadmaps, strategies, and action plans for diverse client bases, including governments, corporations, and asset owners.
* Conduct emissions assessments, identify reduction opportunities, advise on energy-efficient technologies, fleet decarbonisation, energy transition, and sustainable supply chains.
* Interpret and apply climate legislation and standards to support client compliance and positioning.
* Build strong relationships, identify new opportunities, prepare proposals, and contribute to market action plans.
* Manage end-to-end advisory engagements ensuring technical excellence, quality, and timely delivery.
* Mentor junior consultants and foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
* Share expertise through industry panels, publications, and internal knowledge development.
* Ensure all work aligns with our safety and quality standards.
About You-
You have proven experience in climate advisory, sustainability, and decarbonisation consulting, with a strong understanding of climate policy and emissions reduction strategies. Ideal candidates possess excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
* Minimum 5-8 years relevant experience in infrastructure advisory, decarbonisation strategy, sustainability, or climate change consulting.
* Proven experience with Australian built infrastructure market, economic infrastructure sectors (transport, data centres, water), social infrastructure (health, education facilities).
* Demonstrated expertise in emissions reduction methodologies, carbon accounting, climate risk assessment.
* Experience with renewable energy, storage, fleet decarbonisation strategies, planning.
* Understanding of Australian energy market transition, climate policy landscape, regulatory frameworks.
* Ability to work autonomously within guardrails, taking client brief or statement of work, formulate methodology proposal drawing contributions required from within our team elsewhere in WSP partner organisations.
* Exceptional communication, presentation, and technical report writing skills conveying complex information clearly and concisely.
