Position Classification: Counsellor Level 4, Psychologist, Sexual Assault Worker Level 4, Social Worker Level 4
Remuneration: Dependent on Qualifications

- Psychologist – $40.57 - $59.38 per hour

- Counsellor, Sexual Assault Worker & Social Worker Level 4 - $63.81 - $65.35 per hour

What you'll be doing
As the Safe Wayz Aboriginal Senior Clinician, you’ll coordinate and deliver clinical services for children under 10 displaying problematic or harmful sexual behaviours. You’ll work closely with families, communities, and partner organisations to ensure culturally safe, trauma-informed care and early intervention.

- Deliver holistic assessments and culturally inclusive support plans

- Provide trauma-informed counselling and therapeutic support

- Collaborate with Aboriginal leaders and services to strengthen community engagement

- Lead prevention initiatives and contribute to service planning

- Support capacity building through consultation, training, and advocacy

Essential Criteria:

- Licence: Current NSW Driver's Licence

- Qualifications: Tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor’s degree) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Graduate Certificate in Human & Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma), with demonstrated cultural expertise.

- Evidence of Diversity claim: Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander

Selection Criteria:

1. This is an identified Aboriginal Position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander descent, have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander cultures and have established links with their local Aboriginal community. An applicant’s race is a genuine occupational qualification and exemption is claimed under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW.

2. Tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor’s degree) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Graduate Certificate in Human & Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma), with demonstrated cultural expertise.

3. Demonstrated ability to create Aboriginal community connections, engagement and collaboration to affect outcomes with an understanding of intergenerational trauma, contextual and causal factors for violence, abuse and neglect and the principles of cultural safety.

4. Demonstrated understanding and skills in child centred, family focussed counselling, support and case management to address problematic or harmful sexual behaviours with young children and their carers.

5. Demonstrated ability to provide culturally responsive counselling services to individuals and their families and a commitment to accessing clinical and cultural supervision and professional education.

6. Demonstrated understanding of the legal and policy framework governing child protection in NSW.

7. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills in combination with an ability to work as part of a small therapeutic team.

8. Valid unrestricted drivers’ licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
