13,000 hectares of hardwood plantations

. AMA operates with a lean and capable team focused on long-term, sustainable land management. We manage assets on behalf of a large global fund manager committed to responsible landscape investment, and a local fund manager based in Australia.
The Opportunity
AMA is seeking an experienced and results-driven General Manager to lead day-to-day operations and deliver strong performance. This role is focused on managing the team and operational activities to drive sustainable forestry outcomes for clients and in the Northern Territory. You will be responsible for overseeing the execution of business plans, ensuring operational efficiency, and delivering value through effective management of resources, processes, and stakeholder relationships.
AMA is entering the next growth phase with selective harvesting now underway. We need a hands-on manager who can drive operational excellence, expand market opportunities, and manage partnerships to achieve tangible business outcomes both domestically and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and lead AMA's local team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment aligned with the company's values and ESG commitments
* Implement and monitor operational plans, tracking performance metrics and resolving issues as they arise
* Manage supplier, partner, and contractor relationships to ensure seamless operations and quality standards
* Ensure compliance with workplace safety, environmental regulations, and quality assurance standards
* Provide regular reports and updates on operational performance to the Board and key stakeholders
* Oversee day-to-day operations including selective harvesting, processing, logistics, and sales to ensure targets are met on time and within budget
* Developing marketing and sales opportunities focused on Mahogany timber, including customer relationship management
You bring:
Operational Management Experience
* Proven track record managing forestry or related operations (formal forestry qualifications preferred)
* Skilled in team leadership, contractor coordination, and managing field activities
* Ability to translate business plans into actionable operational workflows and deliverables
Commercial & Technical Skills
* Strong understanding of financial controls, budgeting, and performance tracking
* Familiarity with sawmilling or value-added processing operations is highly desirable
* Experience with timber sales, marketing, and logistics
Stakeholder & Team Engagement
* Effective communicator able to build trust with employees, contractors, customers, and partners
* Comfortable working and living in remote environments

Location & Travel
This role is based in Douglas Daly NT with accomodation and car provided. Hybrid work from Darwin may be considered, balancing field presence with office responsibilities.
