Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services. On 1 January ****, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January ****, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.
Fixed Term – 12 months with possibility to extend
Full-time: 76 hours per fortnight

The Department
The School of Translational Medicine (STM) is the FMNHS's leading school for biomedical and clinical research and education, offering undergraduate and postgraduate study programs. STM is primarily located at the Alfred Hospital Precinct, with sites at Peninsula Health, and Cabrini Hospital.
The Role
In the role as a Level 1 Research Nurse, you will work on research projects that aim to improve challenging symptoms (e.g., chronic breathlessness) for people with chronic respiratory disease. This Research Nurse role will primarily work on our "Primary Breathe Australia" clinical trial and process evaluation, which will determine if a non-pharmacological, breathlessness self-management intervention delivered in the community helps relieve breathlessness. The Research Nurse will receive specialised training in chronic breathlessness management and will work with primary care clinicians to identify and recruit patients from general practices and nursing homes that our participating in our trial. The Research Nurse will deliver the non-drug, breathlessness, self-management program to patients with chronic respiratory disease (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, interstitial lung disease, lung cancer, severe asthma, and bronchiectasis) over 2-3 consultations in the community.
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with ideally experience in any of clinical research, respiratory medicine, supportive care or primary care. The incumbent will provide support to the research Group Leader, with the responsibility of coordinating and assisting with the advancement of the program, opportunities for authorship on publications, and research development activities.

Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA

Key Capabilities
Proven people and communication skills include relationship building, cooperation, conflict resolution, influencing others and facilitating open discussions.
Knowledge and experience relevant to clinical research.
Have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
