About the Opportunity
We're looking for an exceptional Head of Communications & Marketing to lead the strategic direction of a large-scale, high-impact national campaign that inspires communities across Australia and beyond. This is a rare chance to take ownership of a well-known, purpose-driven brand that blends creativity, data, storytelling, and community mobilisation on a massive scale.
In this role, you'll design and execute the communications and marketing strategy that drives participation, strengthens supporter loyalty, and amplifies our message in a crowded market. You'll lead a talented team of specialists (with an experienced Communications Lead reporting directly to you), ensuring the entire marketing function operates smoothly, creatively, and with an unwavering focus on impact.
If you're energised by complex campaigns, passionate about behaviour-shifting communications, and excited by the idea of motivating hundreds of thousands of people to take part in something bigger than themselves — this is your career-defining move.
What You'll Lead In this senior, hands-on position, you will:
* Own the full omnichannel marketing strategy, driving Above the Line (ATL) and Below the Line (BTL) campaigns for one of Australia's largest community-driven events.
* Design and evolve the supporter journey, shaping the messages, touchpoints and experiences that attract, convert and nurture participants year after year.
* Oversee a high-performing team, including a Markteting 2IC who manages email, lifecycle and conversion specialists.
* Systemise the marketing function, ensuring the team operates efficiently and effectively during peak campaign periods.
* Leverage analytics (PowerBI, GA, marketing automation tools) to drive performance optimisation and insightful strategic decisions.
* Champion content excellence, ensuring every piece of communication — across social, email, landing pages, events and media — is cohesive, compelling, and on-brand.
* Partner cross-functionally with senior leadership and community partnership teams to grow participation, deepen engagement and maximise fundraising outcomes.
* Bring innovation to the table, exploring new technologies, creative approaches and audience insights to keep us ahead of the curve.
About You
You're a strategic thinker with the heart of a storyteller and the discipline of a campaign operator. You thrive in fast-paced environments, understand the demands of large-scale event cycles, and love building high-performing teams.
You'll excel here if you:
* Bring 8+ years' experience across marketing and communications, ideally with exposure to event-driven, fundraising, or movement-based campaigns.
* Have a strong grasp of omnichannel strategy, including digital, content, paid, social, email and conversion.
* Can confidently lead, coach and develop a diverse marketing team.
* Understand how to translate insights into action, using data to guide decision-making, testing, segmentation and optimisation.
* Are comfortable rolling up your sleeves when needed — especially during event season.
* Have exceptional copywriting, storytelling and proofreading abilities.
* Love building systems, processes and structure that make a team thrive.
* Are excited to shape and grow a brand with national visibility and global potential.
What's On Offer
* A competitive salary package with access to salary packaging up to $15,900.
* The chance to lead a mission-driven team and see your work create real social impact.
* Close collaboration with senior leadership, giving you direct influence over brand direction and organisational growth.
* A dynamic, values-aligned culture where creativity, innovation and community spirit are celebrated.
* The opportunity to mentor and uplift a strong second-in-command (Communications Lead) who supports delivery across lifecycle, email, and conversion.
