Senior Policy Programs Officer

At the NSW Department of Education, we educate and inspire lifelong learners – from early childhood, through schooling to vocational education and training.

- Ongoing Full-Time
- Located in Parramatta with flexible working arrangements available
- $129,464 - $142,665 plus superannuation

About the role

The Senior Service Planning and Delivery Officer oversees and coordinates the planning, development, and implementation of complex projects that support the delivery of new public early childhood education and care (ECEC) services across NSW.

Your Responsibilities

- Analyse complex Early Childhood Education and Care (ECE) service planning and delivery issues, identify emerging risks, and develop evidence-based solutions.
- Oversee end-to-end project planning, development, and delivery to support new high-quality public ECEC services.

- Provide expert advice to stakeholders to ensure correct policy implementation and compliance the National Quality Framework including relevant legislation, curriculum learning frameworks, policy and guidelines.

The Early Childhood Outcomes Division leads the Early Years Commitment program, delivering major investments in children’s development and early education during the first five years of life. The division supports families to access the services they need, strengthens and grows the early childhood education and care sector, and invests in the early childhood workforce while driving long-term system reform.

About you –

As the Senior Policy Programs Officer you will be able to demonstrate

- Building and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders—including schools, the early childhood sector, communities, families, and internal partners—to support positive outcomes for children, and monitor and report on project progress to ensure objectives are met.
- Mentor and guide service delivery officers and support staff, ensuring adherence to governance and quality requirements and successful delivery of public ECEC priorities and project milestones.

- Apply continuous improvement approaches to enhance systems, processes, and procedures, supporting best-practice methodologies and quality standards.
- Prepare correspondence, professional learning materials, support resources, reports, and briefs that are clear, informative, and aligned with agency requirements to respond to organisational and government needs.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

- Demonstrated knowledge of and/or experience in the Early Childhood Education and Care sector
- Tertiary qualifications in Early Childhood Education and Care
- A Valid Working with Children Check
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
