The Role :
At St Basil's Homes (SA), we are seeking a dedicated Lifestyle Team Member to join our Lifestyle team at our Aegean Village (Christie Downs) site. In this role, you will be at the heart of creating joyful and engaging experiences for residents in an aged care setting. With the right blend of creativity and empathy, you will craft moments of happiness and companionship, especially for those living with dementia.

What you’ll do and be responsible for :
As a Living Well (Lifestyle) Team Member, you will play a vital role in delivering individual and group activity programs designed to enhance our residents’ physical, intellectual, emotional, cultural and social well‑being. We are looking for someone with an upbeat personality, the capacity to work well autonomously and as a team player, and who is passionate about ensuring our residents have engaging and meaningful activities that suit their needs and interests.
- Assist the Living Well Event Lead and Team with planning, setting up and running activities for residents.
- Build genuine relationships with our residents to know their likes and dislikes.
- Active participation in the delivery of activities, executing a diverse program, accommodating all residents' abilities.
- Foster strong relationships with residents, families, and stakeholders.
- Engage in meetings and activity planning as needed.
- Tailor activities based on residents' cultural, spiritual, and personal preferences.
- Collaborate to devise a weekly/monthly activity roster with the Living Well Event Lead and Team.
- Ensure complete and timely documentation of resident participation and engagement.
- Assist in carrying out lifestyle assessments of residents and maintaining Lifestyle Care Plan.
- Utilise your experience in dementia care to make a significant impact.
What you’ll need to succeed :
- Demonstrated initiative in designing and implementing lifestyle programs.
- Understand the ageing process, cognitive decline, and disabilities.
- Particular experience working with dementia patients in an aged care setting.
- Ability to work effectively within a team, bringing a bubbly and vibrant energy.
- Strong communication skills to connect with residents and team members alike.
- Creativity and empathy in planning and leading engaging activities.
- A deep understanding of elderly needs and recreational aids.
- Adept at reviewing and monitoring seniors' recreational needs.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Demonstrate a high level of empathy and compassion, with a person‑centred approach.
It would be helpful if you had (but is not essential to apply for the role) :
- Certificate III or IV in Aged Care, Leisure and Health, or related fields.
- Prior experience as a lifestyle assistant or similar role in aged care.
- Training or certification specific to dementia care.
- Understanding or experience of the Aged Care sector.
- A current National Police Certificate (or willingness to apply)
