About The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Payroll Officer is responsible for delivering a high‐quality, accurate, and timely payroll service. The role oversees day‐to‐day payroll operations and uses strong problem‐solving skills to identify and resolve payroll‐related issues.
* Deliver end‐to‐end payroll processing for a workforce of up to 300 employees.
* Ensure accurate and timely processing of wages in accordance with applicable mining awards, enterprise agreements, site policies and employment contracts.
* Calculate and process leave entitlements, superannuation, taxes, deductions, Workcover and salary packaging.
* Ensure compliance with Australian payroll legislation, including PAYG, superannuation guarantee, Fair Work requirements and relevant state obligations.
* Prepare and submit statutory and internal payroll reports, including EOFY reporting and audits.
* Respond to payroll queries from employees, supervisors and management in a professional and confidential manner.
* Collaborate closely with HR, Finance and site leadership to ensure payroll accuracy and data integrity.
* Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and payroll information.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll systems, processes and controls, particularly in a high‐compliance mining environment.
* Relocation to the local area is essential, as Costerfield Operations is a residential mine.
About You
* 4+ years of experience processing large‐volume payroll.
* Strong understanding of relevant payroll legislation.
* Ability to understand and interpret enterprise agreements.
* Experience using Kronos or Payroll Metrics systems is preferred.
* Strong customer‐service focus and problem‐solving ability.
* Ability to interpret and understand EBAs.
