Whitfords Volunteer Sea Rescue – Ocean Reef WA
Joining our Radio Monitoring Team is open to everyone – no prior experience is required. Marine Rescue Whitfords and DFES provide comprehensive training and the opportunity to earn your Short Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency (SROCP) qualification.
Our volunteers deliver a vital marine radio service every day of the year during daylight hours, ensuring the safety of boaters along our coastline. As a radio operator, you will:
* Monitor three marine radio channels (16, 77 and 81)
* Provide the logon/logoff service
* Follow set procedures for overdue vessels
* Coordinate operations and communicate with Marine Rescue assets during incidents
As part of our team, you'll join the Marine Rescue Whitfords family – more than 120 active volunteers who share a passion for safety, teamwork, and service to the community.
It's an exciting time to get involved, as we've recently welcomed a new rescue vessel to our fleet and moved into a state‐of‐the‐art, purpose‐built facility at Ocean Reef Marina.
If you're looking for a meaningful way to contribute, develop new skills, and be part of a supportive, community‐minded team – we encourage you to apply!
