ACT NoWaste is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Director, Service Design and Delivery to provide senior leadership in the design, procurement and transition of complex waste management services.
This is a permanent Director-level role for a leader who thrives in complexity, brings strong judgement to service and procurement design, and is motivated by delivering tangible environmental and community outcomes.
The Opportunity
As Director, Service Design and Delivery, you will lead a specialist team responsible for shaping the next generation of waste and recycling services for the ACT. You will:
* Lead the design, planning and delivery of complex waste management and emissions reduction programs
* Drive major procurements, service transitions and contract establishment
* Analyse existing services to identify improvement opportunities and future capability gaps
* Provide high‑quality advice, business cases and briefings to senior executives
* Build strong partnerships with industry, government and community stakeholders
* Champion continuous improvement, governance and service excellence
* Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing professional team
You are a strategic, people‑focused leader with demonstrated experience in:
* Leading complex projects, programs and procurements in a government or regulated environment
* Service design, system improvement and end‑to‑end delivery
* Commercial and procurement strategy, contract development and transition
* Engaging and influencing a diverse range of stakeholders
* Translating data and evidence into sound decisions and advice
* Developing teams, fostering capability and modelling inclusive leadership
Eligibility/Other requirements:
* Tertiary qualifications in a discipline relevant to the role are essential (e.g., environmental management, engineering, sustainability, business, or public administration).
* Extensive experience (10–15+ years’) in a relevant field, including senior leadership.
