Head of Department (Curriculum)
Gladstone Central State School is seeking a Head of Department (Curriculum) to join the team. The role would suit an experienced educator with strong instructional leadership capability, experience in curriculum and pedagogy, and a commitment to working in a high-performance team environment.
Responsibilities
* Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
* Set high standards for student and staff performance.
* Engage in lifelong learning and professional development.
* Build partnerships with students, parents, agencies, and community groups.
* Be future-oriented and strategic.
* Understand legislation and policies impacting on the school department, students and staff.
* Manage the human, financial, facilities and other school resources to achieve goals.
* Manage staff, timetabling, resources and school operations to enable effective teaching, learning and wellbeing practices across classes and supported programs.
Must-Have Skills and Experience
* Current Queensland teacher registration and eligibility for leadership roles.
* Demonstrated success in instructional leadership and improving student outcomes.
* Strong knowledge of Science of Reading.
* Strong knowledge of inclusive education and differentiation strategies.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Capacity to lead change and foster a collaborative team culture.
Nice-to-Have Skills and Experience
* Strong understanding of Science of Learning
* Strong understanding of the Numeracy P-12 informing paper and associated research
* Familiarity with digital tools including AI.
* Strong understanding of Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) and wellbeing frameworks.
